Bill's Notes

Barack was brilliant
I'm with Charles Murray on this one: I read Barack Obama's speech on race, and it was brilliant. I'm not one to gush, or drink the Kool-Aid, and I don't agree with every little nit in the speech. But it was a great speech on the experience of race and racism in this country. Hats off to the man; Obama hit this one out of the park. Just a great American speech.

Text on Drudge here.

Super G (www):
I am wondering what people think - outside of Hillary supporters bashing Obama on blog sites.

On one hand, I think this speech covered many of my beliefs about race and race relations. To that end I thought the speech text (I didn't hear it) was riveting.

On the other hand, the Wright association still raises questions for me about Obama. (Not enough to support Hillary, of course)

A lot of this has to do with whether one believes this was sincere or pure political BS.

Eric Blair (mail):
What is apparent to me is that the Senator was using Wright for further his ambitions locally. It was apparently useful enough to sit through those sermons at the triple rock or whatever and so on.

For 20 years.

Its also obvious that he at the very least dissembled about not actually hearing Wright say the stuff he did in the videos circulating.
