Bill's Notes

Worst. Typo. Ever.
So the Associated Press now wins the all-time award for the best typographical error in the history of man.

A little background. Part of the shoulder is a ring of fibrocartilage called the labrum. Tearing the labrum is the death-knell for baseball pitchers -- you tear it, you pretty much never come back. (Not so for quarterbacks -- Drew Brees, for example, torn his labrum before last season, and had a great season for the Saints.)

Anyway, Chicago Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood had labrum surgery. But look at what the folks at AP wrote:

"The MRI in Dr. Kremchek's terms, stated it was pristine (and) that the labia repair looked as if it was completely intact (and) looked like it had healed nicely and perfectly.

For the record, the plural of labrum is labra.

Dude, here in Dothan we have a base called Fort Rucker, last week someone screwed up and we had Fort F-cker on page 2A.

That's pretty bad. They oughta change the name just to make sure.
