What I learned about the Michael Vick business
Americans love football. Americans love quarterbacks. Football fans are a strong constituency, with a broad base of fans.
But they're the French compared to the Germans when it comes to dogs. Dogs may be the strongest constituency in the country. You mess with dogs, and it's all over for you. Period.

I don't understand the Bill Frist reference.
This is the Bill Frist story (which I now feel slightly bad about referring to without getting a bit more detail). The story was that Frist collected cats "as pets" from shelters in order to use in medical experiments.
Still, I think that Frist is less heinous than Vick (reportedly) killing dogs that had didn't show good signs of fighting.
Everyone knows dogs are man's best friend.
