Bill's Notes

You don't say ...
The smart don't get any richer than the not-so-smart.

I'm glad we have a scientific study to confirm this piece of Solomon's wisdom (Ecclesiastes 9:11):

I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

I actually read the article from the author of the report. The smart do get richer than the not-so-smart.

From the report "IQ score and net worth is roughly half (0.156, p<.01) the correlation between IQ score and income (.297, p < .01)."

So the smart tend to have larger incomes and more wealth than the not-so-smart. However, the smart are more represented by high incomes than high wealth.

You can email zagorsky.1@osu.edu for the results if you care.
