(by the final "that", I meant, "They distort the Christain faith and are energetically and actively seeking to recruit others to their distorted version.")
Though at one time, before the mormons were driven into Utah, many christians were.
I also suspect that given the huge trend towards secularism in our culture, the mormons are in general the least of our worries.
I'll second the 'nicest people' bit - at least mostly.
But honestly. Who could believe that an Egyptian Hieroglyphic text stamped in gold plates was discovered in western New York that magically translated to be exactly parallel to the the King James version of the Bible (in huge sections, the KJV finding it's origins in the Greek and Hebrew), and subsequently the gold plates magically disappear? It's just plain impossible, but the Mormons believe it. Cue the Twilight Zone music....
However much I agree with some of the comments above, this seems a bit of a dangerous road to follow (though IB Bill you are apparently into that danger thing). The whole glass house thing.
Although if I have to hear "religion of peace" line one more time not paired with massive criticism of declaring death sentences on anyone and everyone that makes a potentially unfavorable assessment of Islam, my eyes are going to roll so far up into my head I might have an accident. I've stopped listening to news on the radio in car for safety sake.
At least the Mormons haven't strapped a vest of explosives mixed with tacks and nails around their body and blown themselves up in a crowd on non-Mormon's in the name of God.

I really don't know why Christian's aren't more upset about this.
Have you ever met a mormon? They're the nicest people by like a factor of 10.
Yes, some of my closest friends growing up were Mormons - next door neighbors, actually.
