Bill's Notes

[Industrialblog, June 2, 2005]
Now this isn't exactly a family blog
Paul is outraged by what a bunch of w***n the blogosphere has become:

It may have been going on in the blogosphere for some time, but it's only in the past few months that I've been noticing the practice of using asterisks in four-letter words, instead of spelling the word out. You know, instead of writing "shit," you write "sh*t." Or "sh**." Or "sh***," or "s***."

To which I say, bullshit!

I shall respond in haiku.

Readers: You may swear
if you dare, both here and there
In the blogosphere.

Chris (mail) (www):
On my own blog, I try to keep away from words that might make search engines classify me into some restricted zone, but I do do it honestly — I just avoid using the words entirely, rather than pretending to use them.

Though I have to say that I would respect people who used the comic book style "!@#$". At least that has style.

On the other hand, I think that people who pretend that they're in kindergarten and say things like "the f-word" or "the s-word" or the "n-word" are beyond the pale. Someone should just spank them and send them off to bed without dinner.
