Salute to the Nissan
My car, a 1992 Nissan Sentra XE, has been a loyal companion over the years. In fact, at this point, as it was purchased in June 1996, it may qualify as my oldest friend I've seen every day. It has outlasted one relationship, my ex-girlfriend's Volvo (replacing the engine doesn't count) and two jobs.

On Tuesday, only two months after dinging me for a couple hundred, it dinged me again. The water pump blew up and cost me $270. Fortunately, loyal and intrepid vehicle that it is, the water pump died as the car rolled into the driveway. Surely, if there's a Valhalla for cars, it will go there, just for that last effort and its noble battle with the Dodge Pickup in 2000.

Nonetheless, fine vehicle and companion that it's been, that's the last time. He has earned his rest, the honored and peaceful rest of the valiant and the brave. Tomorrow is his last commute. And then we part ways. As the bard said, if we do meet again, then we shall smile. If not, then this parting was well made.

This is just a guess, but I don't think that cars can go to heaven, or even to valhalla. That's one big pony to carry the car accross its rump!
