Rome
I might. Last night, I was driving home, grumbling. I'm sure no readers can imagine it, but I have a tendency to grumble and mutter and otherwise be ornery. The object of the muttering changes, and last night, I was having one of my periodic disagreements with God, who seems to be ignoring my memos. Well, last night He might have had enough. I felt called to go pray in a church after work, and as my Anglo-Catholic church seems to close up early in the winter, that leaves the Romans.
Well, the first church from where I was, which was the Blue Route North, was the church at Villanova U. So I went there last night, and as I walked in, the church was packed. Standing room only. They were having a Mass. It was a beautiful church and a beautiful Mass, and I thought, you know, maybe I'd like to go to Rome.
I was fortunately granted some grace during Mass (okay, I was nearly knocked over by the Holy Spirit) and afterward during prayer. And for a little while, at least, the muttering and grumbling stopped. Okay, for a little while, I was quiet and communing with the Holy Spirit and was filled with enormous gratitude for knowing Christ and His grace. And for a while, I went beyond prayers of petition to prayers of adoration, merely thanking God for glorifying Himself in His church, through His people and with His word. Praise God.
