Thorough whomping
Kerry kicked his ass in the debate. Not even close. Bush sounded like a defensive and somewhat petulant child. Too bad. Now it looks like we'll have a presidential race. Shit. I was hoping for a blowout. Bush never should've debated this guy.

But hey, if you can't handle a debate with your opponent, perhaps you don't belong in the White House.

FWIW.

Actually, debating is not a skill that presidents are called on to have in office, only during the race.

In office, they're called on to make good decisions and have a working backbone. At least a hash of honesty helps, too.

Kerry has much, much better form than Bush does. His only problem is in substance. Specifically that what substance he does have is wrong.

But Kerry definitely had a commanding presence and mastery of the momentum of the debate which Bush utterly lacked, without question.

But Kerry did come up with a few odd ones. What's this about wanting to provide Iran with nuclear material and run their energy program for them so that they can devote all of their time and money to developing weapons?

Btw, a question Lehrer really should have asked Kerry in the debate:

"You've said that Iraq is a big mess which costs too much, so we need to get the rest of the world to fix our mess and pay for it. Is this policy of reckless disregard for responsibility something that you learned over your many years of living off of obscenely rich wives, or did your parents raise you badly?"
