Apologies to the universe
... may have been too hasty in my determination that the universe had it in for me. So I apologize to the universe for slandering it. I'd like to say it won't happen again, but I'll try to be a little less willing to condemn the universe's attitude toward me in the future.

I've read (most of) the Book of Job, but it hasn't been that bad. I'll check out Chesterton's intro. Thanks.

I didn't mean that you were sitting in a pile of ashes while dogs licked your festering wounds. I just thought that your post was a little similar to Job's conclusion in his eponymous book. :-)

The interesting point about Chesterton's introduction is something I never thought about ... if you testify against God, and attempt to "take God to trial," well, God may just want to cross-examine the witness. (Gulp.)

Heh. I've always been more impressed by how well Chesterton explains the paradox of how nice it is to know that we don't understand everything. They're related, of course.
