Things I don't care about, part 66
The Oscars. Celebrity "culture" isn't my thing. However, I'll make an effort to see this movie Crash. Anyone see it and think it was any good?

Speaking of confession ...
I did complain a bit on Thursday and Friday about a personal matter. No big deal. Back to my noncomplaining Lent.

Much laundry
It's a sunny, stunningly warm day up here in the mountains. The trees are waking each other up, stretching their limbs, and saying, here comes the sun, better get some clothes on.

And I'm sitting inside, blogging in my friend's basement, while I do laundry. And what a mighty pile of laundry it is! Comforters, blankets, sheets, sweatshirts ... I should be here for quite a while. What I need is a menagere.

On reconciliation
So Thursday night in RCIA the subject is once again broached: Exactly how much confessing do I have to do in that first confession? And how long is that going to take?

I'm 42, and if none of my Episcopal confessions count, I have 42 years worth of sins to confess. If the confessions in the Episcopal church count, I have about nine months. The priest doesn't really give me an answer to my question, which tells me I'm asking the wrong question and probably being too legalistic.

Realizing the extent of what I'd have to confess if we're starting from scratch, I say:

"Okay, I can cut this down, How about you just give me the max?"

We then moved on to other subjects. A little later, the priest came back to the subject of maximum penance: "Augustine says the maximum penance is one Our Father. Because that's how Jesus told us to pray."

Had to chew on that for a while.

Dream thought
So I'm dreaming that I'm reading a manuscript, and the only thing I can remember, as I wake up, is this line: "Whatever is lost is talk." I thought about that for a while ...
